Notes from the General Assembly 29/12/2011

Mick has arranged use of a space at the Plymouth Social Club on Mondays at 6pm. We are planning to use this for General Assemblies since it means we don’t get rained on. There is ample parking for any of our supporters who would like to attend and hot drinks will be available.

We have started to recover the gear that was put into storage by the bailiffs. We are currently in the process of moving things from the self-storage place into off-site facilities that we have access to. It has been noted that there are several items that we know to be missing from the self storage, notably the kitchen equipment. We are still working on accessing the remaining items which we suspect are still in the building.

Mark proposed that we do some mini pop-up occupations of other parts of Plymouth this was generally accepted as a good idea but it is dependent on numbers.

Several people raised the point that being back in Jigsaw Gardens should not be seen as a step backwards, rather we have a much stronger position to engage with all the rest of Plymouth due to the location even if that means we have to battle the elements somewhat.

It has been noted that we have still not returned to our original strength after being evicted from Buckwell House. We ask that any of our supporters that can to spend more time at the Jigsaw Gardens even if it is only a few hours once a week, we love to see all your friendly faces!

THE FIRST of what are expected to be many tents were erected in Plymouth city centre, as protesters highlighted the nation’s growing discontent with the financial crisis.

The Occupy Plymouth activists chose the Jigsaw Garden, opposite the Roland Levinsky building at Drake Circus, to build the encampment, and shortly after noon on Saturday, the first three tents were pegged down.undefined
